Savvy Caregiver®
6-week program

How It Works

The original and most common version of Savvy Caregiver is an in-person (or virtual) small group session lasting 6-week period. Sessions are typically held on the same evening for six weeks (e.g., Thurs at 6:30 p.m. at the Pine Tree Community Library). It is designed to be delivered in 2-hour sessions each week for 6 weeks.

Savvy curriculum empowers caregivers by enabling them to:

  • Gain a better understanding of Alzheimer’s and related dementias.
  • Develop self-care strategies.
  • Learn skills and strategies to successfully provide daily activities of ‘Contented Involvement’ for their family member living with dementia.
  • Identify and engage family and other resources for care-related assistance and support.

Savvy Caregiver 6-Week Program materials include:

  • Detailed trainer’s manual
  • Caregiver’s manual for home use
  • Training videos
  • Training PowerPoint class slides
  • Handouts
